Off The Old Block

Ok, so it figures that I would be at my schlubbiest when I met one of my ex’s on the redline today. That’s the way these things work. (When I met a different ex at the start of grad school, I was also quite schlubby). Khakis and a former work polo. Meh.

Of course, she was looking phenomenal. Lost a noticable amount of weight, in great shape physically - and well put together in the standard “marketing” uniform. More importantly she looked completely unencombered by life, and that is - awesome.

Discounting the sad state of my appearance (I hadn’t shaved in a few days either. Rough!) It was a neat experience to run into someone in a very different context than I am used to or was even expecting. It had an effect on me. Why? I don’t know. It’s good to see someone I care about doing well (as my friend appears to be) and it takes me back to a much “happier” time in the sense that life was less complicated back then.

Just a happy coincidence, and it put me in a good mood. Plus it’s nice to have at least one more ex out there that doesn’t make me want to yell “skank!”
